NKOTB!!!

I know I have totally been slacking on my blog, but I had to tell you how excited I am for November 15th! My friends and I are going to the NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK CONCERT!!!!!! I totally know I am older now and should be over this type of thing, but I didn't go to any of their concerts when I was a teen so now I get to fulfill my little fantasy of seeing them perform. I guess this means I should go out and buy their album...

A Very Good Friend

Okay, so after Church today, I was sitting under a blanket watching Season 1 episodes of NCIS (I know, I was so NOT keeping the Sabbath Day holy) when my sister came in from the ward she goes to carrying a Book of Mormon. She asked me why I didn't open the door for the missionaries and I just gave her a blank look and told her that no one had knocked on my door since I'd been home. She proceeded to open the front cover of the Book of Mormon and told me there was no mistake, but that the Book of Mormon was for me. I was very confused and as she handed it to me, I read what was written inside:

"Dear Sis. Green,
I want to take a moment and Thank You for being such an amazing daughter of God, I have learned so much from you. Thank You for having and sharing your sweet testimony, it has blessed so many peoples lives. Thank You for being who you are, I truly have learned so many great things from you, I really appreciate your service and your happy attitude! Thank you for everything!

Love, A Very Good Friend"

Enclosed in the Book of Mormon was a bookmark with a quote from President Hinckley which says: "It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."

I don't know who gave this to me (although I have suspicions it is one of my Young Women), but I want to express my greatest appreciation for my Very Good Friend who somehow through the Spirit knew I needed this right now. If any of you who are reading this know who did this for me, please thank them in my behalf. I also want you all to know this quote by President Hinckley applies to each and every one of you. If there is a way I can help relieve your burdens like this sweet angel has helped relieve mine, please let me know. You are all my VERY GOOD FRIENDS!

Catching Up

So I have been slacking in a major way with my blogging (like usual) and I told myself that after I came back from the General Relief Society meeting, I would catch everyone up. I have had major things going on, but probably the most major was when my friend Becca got married on September 12th! I was able to attend the wedding and help at the reception. Here are some pics!

Jeff and Becca being all lovey-dovey

Becca's plaid toes-how long did she have to sit for that?

Traditional cutting of the cake

So I caught the bouquet-it's not like this is the first time it's happened!

Can I just say that catching the bouquet was slightly surprising in the fact that the flowers were real. I didn't grab the part you hold on to, I grabbed the part that sticks out from the bottom. Needless to say, part of the bouquet came apart and I gave the part I grabbed away to another vieing for the part! It was a good wedding all in all!

Everyone Else Is Doing It...

So I figured since everyone was showing who they are in another life, I'd add mine too. These are my favorite so far... and I'm NOT a Cinderella!

Which Disney Princess Are You?

You are Jasmine. You are loyal and would visit the ends of the earth for what you believe. You would never let obstacles stand in the way of true love.

Which Lord of the Rings Character Are You?

You are Frodo. You're a bit of a wimp...but, if you must do something, you will overcome fears to do it. Even so, you are a caring person who likes to have friends. You don't look or think like you were born for greatness...but you never know!

Which Hogwarts Class Would You Teach?

You would teach Charms. You're definitely "charming"! You know exactly what to do or say and you are the perfect friend. You can easily get your way by flaunting that charm of yours in front of the right person.

Emotional Roller Coaster

I told myself that once school started I would still make time to post on my blog. I haven't been following my own advice so I'm re-telling myself to do this. These last two weeks since school has started have been both physically and emotionally straining on me. I have great students this year so it isn't them (which is a miracle!), but it's just me trying to adjust to things at home and at school. When both hit at the same time, an emotional breakdown is in order. I have had two in the past few days.

I am so grateful for the Gospel because I know I would be absolutely lost without it. I am still struggling with things (aren't we all?), but I know that I am a daughter of God. As long as I keep reminding myself of that, all will be well!

10 and 5 Tag

I am carrying on the 10-5 Tag from Mindi. I may have to think real hard about some of these!

Ten Years Ago...
I had just graduated from USU and was looking for a teaching job. When I didn't find one right away, I started working for a company called Tel Trust as a customer service person on the phone and then as Quality Assurance. I then was able to sign up as a substitute and do long-term subbing for my old junior high where I ended up teaching full time about half a year later.

Five Years Ago...
I was working at Jefferson Jr. High teaching history. I think I was getting ready for my 2nd trip to Walt Disney World and a Disney Cruise.

Five Months Ago...
I was trying to survive the school year and went to Idaho to visit my Dad for Spring Break. I knew after that break, I wouldn't get another one until Memorial Day so I was bracing myself for impact.

My List of Five Things to do Tomorrow:
1. Visit with Kelli and her new twins!
2. Lesson planning
3. Getting some sleep
4. Organizing my life
5. Taking a shower

Five Bad Habits:
1. Snacking
2. Singing to songs in the background while trying to talk with friends at the same time
3. Trying to do too much at the same time
4. Too much patience
5. Becoming overly anxious and stressing

Five Places I've lived:
1. Kearns
2. West Jordan
3. Logan (for college)
4. Taylorsville
5. Ephraim (for college)

Five Things People Don't Know About Me:
1. I took ballet and tap dance classes when I was a young 'un.
2. I would like to perform in community theater or on the stage (if I can get over my stage fright).
3. I know all the words to "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel.
4. I am in love with Brian Vaughn (an actor at the Shakesperean Festival) even though he is already married and has a tyke (and I don't think he is LDS).
5. I am a very picky eater (okay, some of you know this, but I don't think you realize how picky I am).

Now that I've shared all of this, feel free to copy and paste it in your blog just to keep the tag going. Thanks Mindi!
